What are the benefits of frozen
mice over live prey?
Feeding your reptile or snake frozen mice has many
advantages over live prey:
• Convenience – food is stored efficiently in the freezer,
ensuring it is always available when you need it. Storing
live prey presents many problems!
• Safety – there have been many instances of live prey
‘fighting back’ and causing severe injury to the reptile.
Feeding pre-killed food avoids this danger. Also, freezing
mice is a good way to destroy the potentially harmful
bacteria and parasites that rodents can carry.
• Controlled nutrition – Ice Mice are carefully bred and fed
an excellent GM free diet to ensure that they offer your
reptile the highest-quality nutrition.
• Humane killing – the mice are killed quickly and humanely
in controlled conditions.
How do I convert my reptile from live prey to frozen
food?
Most reptiles will happily accept killed food. Make sure the
mouse is fully defrosted and at room temperature or slightly
warmer, then use tongs to pick it up. Dangle the mouse near
the reptile, moving the mouse back and forth to simulate
live movement. If the reptile is slow to show interest, you
may need to stick a pin or small nail into the skull of the
mouse, which releases a stronger scent. And remember –
reptiles will only feed if they are hungry!
What are Ice Mice fed?
Our weaned mice are fed a nutritionally balanced, GM free
diet to ensure that they reach you in optimum condition and
provide the best possible nutrition for your reptiles.
Healthy mice make healthy food!
Are Ice Mice freshly frozen?
We freeze the mice within minutes of humanely killing them,
ensuring that the mice you receive have lost none of their
nutritional value. We maintain a fast turnover of frozen
stock and this means that you can confidently store Ice Mice
in your own freezer for up to 6 months.
What is the delivery time for Ice Mice?
At Ice Mice, we pride ourselves on a fast and efficient
service. Depending on the size of the order, we endeavour to
deliver within 2 working days of taking your order. We are
only able to deliver to addresses within the UK.
Will my Ice Mice still be frozen when they arrive?
We use an overnight courier to deliver your Ice Mice, which
are packed in insulated polystyrene containers to minimise
the risk of thawing. We do, however, recommend that you
purchase an ice pack with your order, especially when
ordering pinks or fluffs, as the smaller the size of the
product, the greater the risk of defrosting in transit. Ice
packs are available for just £1.
What is your refund policy?
Ice Mice are unable to offer refunds due to the nature of
the product. If, due to error on the part of the courier
company, a delivery is delayed resulting in the products
becoming unfit for their purpose, we will send a replacement
order. In circumstances when delivery is delayed because
there is nobody at the delivery address to sign for the
parcel, Ice Mice cannot be held responsible.
How long can I store my Ice Mice in the freezer after
delivery?
We recommend storing Ice Mice for no longer than 6 months in
the freezer.
How should I defrost my Ice Mice?
Once the mouse has been removed from the freezer and placed
securely in a plastic bag, there are two simple ways to
defrost it. Either place the bag in warm water and allow it
to float until the mouse has thawed, or place it in the
refrigerator until fully defrosted (this will take longer,
so allow it to thaw overnight). Always bring the mouse up to
room temperature or, preferably, a little warmer before
feeding it to your reptile; never give your pet cold food.
